OOOOOOOOPPPPSSSS!!!! I do realize that I have not blogged since march. I only blame myself.

Dude, it’s been crazy over at Banana Beat Studios. Music is spewing from every orifice. Why? We are working at album speed. The 3rd Shwayze and Cisco Adler album that is. I got three words… Shit is dope. I don’t have an image to describe how good it will be.

We have also been out on the road. I do have pictures of that. Shout out to New Braufels, Texas. So German.

I don’t have any pictures from the actual show, but here is the closest thing.

Well, here I am after what I would consider a pretty interesting morning. Life continues to wiz past at light speed, and we try our best to keep up. Sometimes it’s easy to find the right flow, but every once in a while you get thrown off, and have to recover and catch back up. That’s how I feel today. Fresh start begins….. Now!!!

Banana Beat studios is in full effect right now. We are currently working on songs for the next (3rd) Shwayze album. Here’s The cast of characters in order of goatee.

So far so good. The insparation is flowing, the beats are popping, and the vibe’s are nothing less than super vibey.

I played Shwayze to 5… He won.

Then we had to get back to work.

This is just the beginning. There is a lot of music to make, and we are stoked to be in the flow.

I’m still very new to the art of blogging. One thing that I am finding is that I have a hard time keeping it updated. I know from being a musician that if you want to get good at something you need to do it with some consistency.  So I am gonna work on that. I’m shooting for once a week. We will see.

Anyhow, heres what’s been going on at Banana Beat Studios. We had a new artist named MOD SUN in

Mod came in like a lightning bold. This guy has an amazing energy, and is a super talented MC. We did a Reggae/ Hip Hop/ Rock  jam. I loved working on this song musically. There was a certain amount of Irie that had to be sustained during all the sessions. Be sure to go to rolingstone.com/choosethecover to vote for Mod as the first unsigned artist to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone. Good Luck MOD!

We also had a talented singer/ songwriter, and good friend Kelly James. He and cisco wrote a couple really cool jam’s that I a stoked to work on. We got a classic California beach jam, and a neo 50′s style song.

The guests that night were MOD SUN, Kelly James, and pro snowboarder Mason Aguirre.

Mason Is a world class athlete. He has placed 1st in the renown world superpipe competition, and he was the youngest member of the U.S. olympic snowboarding team. That’s right, we have olympians as guests on #cisco’shouse. that’s just how we do it around here.

Guess what… I just upped the production value of my blog ten fold. Is tenfold one word? I don’t know. Maybe I’ll look it up on my new ipod touch 4thgen 64 untz.

It’s a beautiful day at Banana Beat Studio in Malibu. I got in today around 11 a.m. and went straight to the state of the art coffee station.

This stuff is like freaking petrol over here.

After brewing some bean juice I met up with Cisco in studio A. He was listening to a song we wrote with Kate Voegele from One Tree Hill. The song is sounding sick, and Kate did an amazing job singing it, so we had to give it a bit more love. 

Theres Cisco Working on big deals. Always big deal’s happening.

Now it’s back to work. I see horns in the future.

Hello world…Welcome to my website. This is my second official blog. It is also the first of my installments of ” tales from the studio.” For those of you who don’t know, “the studio” is Banana Beat Studios. a.k.a. Cisco’s House, a.k.a Cisco Adler’s house.

Today, I didn’t have a car to get to Malibu so our guest ,Kid Russell, picked me up on his way from renting a car at the airport. It was a true Mitzva

Kid Russel is a talented rapper from Chicago. He is here today to  do some vocals on a song that we did called “Pulaski Day.” The song is super feel good, and classic. A tribute to the great city of Chicago, witch happens to be a personal favorite tour stop of mine. Kid came and killed it on his vocal parts.

After a few hours of recording and vibe-ing, I I decided to make a lil nosh us. Crispy Chicken Cutlets with sautéed spinach. The cutlets came out delicious, but the spinach was too oily so I threw it away. FAIL!

With dinner out of the way, we had a visit from some of the Flowbots, You know the band “I can ride my bike with no handle bars.” Good Stuff.

Now Im sitting down to write this blog. I’m not gonna get too in depth today. After I post this blog, I’m gonna work on some final preparations for the Pigeons EP to go to the mixer. Printing, printing, printing. Oh, and a trumpet solo.

Welcome to Goodfeathermusic.com. The official website for me, Mark Smidt a.k.a. Goodfeather.

This website is intended for anybody to learn more about me, and the projects that I am involved with. I will do my best to contribute good stuff to the information super highway.

My first order of business is to promote my band, The Pigeons. Cisco Adler and the Pigeons is a new band fronted by my good friend and collaborator, Cisco Adler, and my buddy Chebon on lead guitar. I play Bass, guitar, keyboards, percussion, and horns. Together we have been working nonstop on what is now the first Pigeons EP. The EP, currently titled “Pigeon Shit” is in the process of being set off to the mixerman. We are all very proud of the music, and exited for everybody to hear it.

Speaking of the Pigeons. Be sure to check out #Cisco’s House on justntv.com every Wednesday 7pm pacific. It’s a great new show that is shot live from Cisco Adler’s house. It’s the highlight of my week. We have been having a great time doing the show, and are grateful to our wonderful guests.
